MWW Wins A Top Supply Chain Projects Award 2024

We’re thrilled to announce that MWW has won a Top Supply Chain Projects Award 2024 from Food Logistics & Supply & Demand Chain Executive.

Over the past year, we’ve made huge strides in integrating cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices, meeting our customers' needs while reducing our environmental impact.

Our success reflects the collective effort and dedication of the whole MWW team. From procurement to operations, every department has played a vital role in this achievement. A special mention goes to Abdul Saleem, whose tireless efforts have been pivotal in helping us to win this award.

One of our standout accomplishments has been in optimising our transport operations. Under the leadership of Ben Cowdell, our Transport and Logistics Manager, we have reimagined our entire transport strategy. Ben said, “We took a completely fresh approach to organising our transport operations and conducted a detailed analysis of our processes. This revealed the complexity of our transport function and highlighted the need for change.

“Our efforts have been recognised with a Top Supply Chain Projects Award, and we are aiming for further accolades, including the Grocer Awards.”

Through a detailed analysis and a willingness to innovate, we have:

  • Increased fleet volume enhancing our capacity while reducing our environmental impact.

  • Improved collaboration with our transport partners.

  • Reduced costs and carbon footprint, achieving significant savings and a greener operation.

Our history of innovation has always been a cornerstone of our success. Parveen Mehta, our Operations Director, reflects on this saying, “Our initiative marks a particularly successful milestone. We have embraced new practices and technologies inclusively, ensuring progress without compromising our values.”

“Collaborating with  Applied Acumen who  provided valuable external support, helping us navigate this transformation.”

Keith Armstrong, Managing Director of Applied Acumen, praised our approach: “MWW has maintained the initiatives that fuelled their growth and integrated them into a systematic approach, yielding significant benefits. This underscores the importance of designing tailored solutions rather than adopting generic approaches.”

As we celebrate this award, we remain focused on the future – committed to innovating and refining our supply chain processes. Our goal at MWW is to build a supply chain that is efficient, dependable, environmentally responsible, and forward-thinking. We will continue to embrace innovative technologies and sustainable practices to enhance our fresh food offerings to customers, support our growers, and reduce our carbon footprint.

Ben Cowdell concluded, “We have demonstrated our capabilities, but we believe there is more to achieve. Our success in shaping our future and tackling challenges will make us an even stronger partner moving forward.”
