Celebrating Diwali Through Acts of Kindness: MWW Joins the Diwali Basket Brigade
This Diwali, members of the MWW team—Parveen Mehta, Shailesh Bisht, and Louise Swindale—joined many other dedicated volunteers for the Diwali Basket Brigade, a charitable initiative that aligns closely with the spirit of Diwali. Celebrated by millions worldwide, Diwali represents the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. For MWW, the festival offers a time to reflect on our values of compassion and community and supporting those less fortunate, especially at this time of year.
The Diwali Basket Brigade, a UK-based charity event, embodies these values by providing essential food hampers to vulnerable households across the country. For one day, volunteers gather to pack and deliver food hampers, bringing a sense of much-needed hope and warmth to families in need during the Diwali season. MWW was proud to support this initiative through both sponsorship and volunteering.
A Day of Giving Back
In Birmingham, Parveen, Shailesh, and Louise joined volunteers from all walks of life to help assemble the food hampers.
Reflecting on the experience, Louise shared, “I had the pleasure of volunteering to help prepare food parcels for families facing tough times. Seeing everyone come together reminded me that small acts of kindness can bring so much joy to others.”
Supporting Families Across the UK
This year, MWW was honoured to sponsor 100 of the 2000 food hampers prepared in Birmingham, contributing to the 5,000 hampers distributed nationwide. These hampers are more than just parcels of food; they are symbols of hope and compassion. For families in need, receiving these hampers during Diwali can provide a moment of brightness in what may be a challenging time.
