Racing the Sun for Children’s Health: Sarah Wadelin’s Charity Challenge for Action Medical Research
One of MWW’s core values is supporting our community, whether that’s here in the UK or around the world. Which is why on 6th September 2025 the whole MWW team will be cheering on our Senior Technical Manager, Sarah Wadelin, as she takes on the Race the Sun Challenge.
The challenge will see Sarah take on a demanding all-day event that will push her to her limits amongst the scenic backdrop of the Lake District in order to raise funds for Action Medical Research, a UK charity working to improve the lives of sick and disabled children.
An Epic Challenge in the Heart of Nature
The Race the Sun event is no ordinary fundraiser. It’s a team-based, triathlon-style challenge against both the clock and the sun, that will test participants both physically and mentally across a variety of terrains in the Lake District. Sarah and her team will need to complete:
- 34-mile bike ride circumnavigating the base of Mount Skiddaw
- 10.5-mile hike ascending Latrigg and Skiddaw to reach the 931-metre summit
- 2-mile kayak across the iconic Derwentwater
To make things even tougher, all the stages must be completed before sunset, making this a true test of stamina, determination, and teamwork.
