A group of MWW employees recently volunteered at FareShare Midlands, a national charity committed to redistributing surplus food to frontline charities and community groups across the UK. The charity's mission is to address the root causes of poverty by providing support to frontline charitable organisations.

In the face of the cost of living crisis, millions of people are experiencing unprecedented economic hardship, leading to a surge in food poverty. Charities like FareShare, crucial in alleviating this crisis, are grappling with the challenge of meeting the soaring demand for food.

MWW has collaborated with FareShare since 2019, contributing to nearly 5 million meals and ranking among their top 5 produce suppliers. Our recent volunteering effort allowed us to gain deeper insights into the impactful work undertaken by FareShare.

During the visit, we toured their Midlands site, which has significantly expanded in recent years. Here, goods are received, sorted, and packed for distribution across the Midlands. Our team spent the morning sorting a variety of goods donated by retailers.

Witnessing FareShare's work in action, heavily reliant on both regular and corporate volunteers, was a highly rewarding experience for the MWW contingent. Inspired by their efforts, We aim to organise regular volunteering trips to FareShare in the future.
