MWW at the Oxford Farming Conference 2025: Driving Change in Fresh Produce

Earlier this month, Sarah Wadelin, our Senior Technical Manager, attended the Oxford Farming Conference (OFC) 2025, one of the most influential events in the UK agricultural calendar. Held at Oxford University, the conference brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss the opportunities and challenges currently facing the future of farming.

With the theme “Facing Change, Finding Opportunity,” the event explored key topics such as technology, sustainability and supply chains. For MWW, attending this event was a valuable opportunity for us to stay ahead of industry developments, gain insights into the developing landscape of food production, and strengthen connections with key stakeholders in the UK fresh produce sector.

The conference featured an impressive lineup of speakers and discussions with major retailers such as Tesco, Co-op, and Waitrose present. Tesco, in collaboration with Harper Adams University, announced new on-farm sustainability projects, reinforcing their commitment to supporting environmentally responsible agricultural practices. Initiatives such as these align closely with our focus on sustainability, as we must ensure we continue to work with forward-thinking growers who are actively implementing positive environmental changes.

One highlight of the conference for Sarah was getting to meet the HRH Princess Anne, who showed a deep understanding of the complexities of growing, sourcing, and supplying fresh food via her key speech. Her insights into farming reinforced the importance of industry-wide collaboration to tackle the challenges facing fresh produce suppliers. Sarah was also able to speak personally with Princess Anne after her speech about the difficulties we face in growing, sourcing and supplying fresh produce.

Attending the Oxford Farming Conference is just part of MWW’s commitment to embracing innovation, adapting to market shifts, and leading to sustainable sourcing. As the fresh produce industry adapts and develops, we remain focused on strengthening our grower partnerships, improving supply chain efficiency, and ensuring that we continue to provide fresh, high-quality produce to our customers.

The event was a powerful reminder that change is inevitable—but within it lies opportunity. It also highlighted how important it is to keep learning and stay open to new ideas. At MWW, we’re excited to take what we learnt at the conference and continue to play our part in shaping the future of fresh produce both here in the UK and overseas.
