A day at the Farm

On a bright Wednesday, July 26th, Jasmine and Peter from LIDL graced MWW Farms with their presence. Despite initial forecasts of torrential rain, the day surprised us with sunshine and warmth, making it a perfect setting for our exploratory journey (no wellies needed!).

Guided by our fantastic host, Simon, Jasmine and Peter experienced the breadth of our agricultural wonders.

The day was filled with delightful sights as we explored a plethora of crops, starting with a stop to admire the lush corn on the cob.  Next, we marvelled at a field of early stage green beans, witnessing nature’s wonders in its infancy

LIDL Visits MMW Farm High Res

Our journey continued as we observed the remnants of UK sugar snap peas, impacted by the bean seed fly, a reminder of the challenges faced in agriculture.  However, the spirit remained high as Jasmine and Peter got to meet the dedicated team harvesting spring onions.

We were fortunate enough to see the green bean harvester in full action. A true delight for the “grown-up girls and boys” among us!  The vibrant fields of TSB, early spring onions, and the promising new reservoirs being prepared for the next year’s endeavours also left us in awe.

Duncan and Michelle played gracious hosts, guiding us around the packhouse and showcasing the top-notch facilities at Top Barn.  The day’s adventures concluded at Honeybourne with lunch and a special site tour led by Denis.  Here, Jasmine and Peter had the opportunity to meet the team and Steph, adding a personal touch to their visit.

It was indeed a pleasant day and we got to explore the wonders of agriculture in the sun!
