Minor, Weir & Willis opens the doors to the next generation of business leaders
We pride ourselves on supporting the next generation of business leaders in the fresh produce industry. So, it was a pleasure to welcome three Master’s students from Vlerick Business School to our Altitude facility in Birmingham.
Why Vlerick Business School?
Vlerick Business School, based in Brussels, is one of the most important business learning hubs in Europe – bringing together people from across the world to develop fresh insights and become the entrepreneurial leaders of tomorrow.
The visit was part of a wider market research project between FairFruit and Vlerick Business School.
What the students learned
During the visit, the students were able to see first-hand the journey our fresh fruit and produce takes, from sorting, packing, and distribution. The visit offered the students a rare behind-the-scenes look at our full operation. The students were able to develop a real appreciation for the level of expertise and precision that’s required to keep the UK’s shelves stocked with the very best fresh produce.
The group from Vlerick were also able to speak with members of the MWW team, including lead buyer Nicoletta Illie, Business Unit Director Stephen Swain, Account Manager Adrian Yates, and the wider technical and quality teams.
Nouhaila, Kashyap and Jacqueline said of their visit: “It brought an invaluable human dimension to the experience and offered us perspectives outside of the classroom. Overall, it was a genuinely enriching day for all of us.”
The importance of investing in the future
We’re committed to continuing to invest in the future, ensuring the company and our partners thrive for generations to come both here in the UK and overseas. Visits like this help us forge vital links, not only with the next generation of business talent, but also important higher education facilities around the world.
