Menopause in the Workplace: Supporting Wellbeing and Inclusivity at MWW
Here at MWW, we are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace where every colleague feels valued and understood. As part of our commitment to promote and improve employee wellbeing, we held a session on Menopause in the Workplace last month.
Menopause is a natural stage of life that can affect everyone, whether we’re experiencing it directly or we’re offering support to loved ones or colleagues. While some individuals go through menopause with few difficulties, research shows that 3 in 4 people will experience symptoms, with as many as 1 in 4 facing serious symptoms. Unfortunately, many people feel unable to discuss menopause-related health issues both at work or with healthcare professionals, with around half never having consulted a medical practitioner about their experiences.
This is why, at MWW, we are passionate about changing this narrative by promoting open conversations around menopause. Our goal is to create a workplace environment where everyone feels comfortable seeking the support they need. The menopause session is an important step in that direction and increasing awareness across the company.
The session covered key topics to help raise awareness and foster understanding, ensuring that both those experiencing menopause and those supporting them were better equipped with the knowledge they need. During the session, we explored:
- What menopause is: How to recognise the symptoms and understand how it can affect individuals in the workplace.
- Managing symptoms and long-term health: Discovering the various options available to manage symptoms and improve overall wellbeing.
- Accessing support: Informing staff about what support is available both within MWW and from external resources, and how they can access it.
The session represented a valuable opportunity for MWW staff to learn more about the menopause and contribute to creating a more supportive and inclusive work environment for everyone across the company. By understanding the challenges that menopause can present and exploring the resources available, we can ensure that every member of staff feels empowered and supported throughout their career journey with us.
