Building Brighter Futures: How MWW is Supporting Families Beyond the Workplace
At MWW, supporting our people means more than just focusing on their careers — it means investing in the future of our staff and their families too. Guided by our core values, which include supporting the local community and investing for the future, we are proud to offer initiatives that go beyond the workplace, from health to education.
This is why we champion our Kumon Scholarship programme, which funds educational opportunities for both employees, their children, and even grandchildren. It’s all part of our commitment, as recognised by our Investors in People accreditation, to create an environment where our colleagues and their families can thrive, grow, and achieve their full potential for generations to come.
Now entering its fourth year, the MWW Kumon Scholarship Programme supports up to five scholarships per year. These can be offered to both children and adults alike.
For young learners, the scholarship programme helps to build strong academic foundations in both maths and English. Whether it’s basic number skills, complex problem-solving, reading comprehension, or essay writing, Kumon empowers learners to grow their confidence, knowledge, and resilience.
While for adult learners, it’s a great opportunity to brush up on their maths and English skills, especially if they’re looking to return to either part time education or the workforce. The programme also helps build the confidence of adults who may have struggled during their school days by allowing them to learn at their own pace while fostering good study habits.
For us at MWW, this programme isn’t just about academic achievement. It’s about empowering every generation with the skills, self-belief, and independent learning habits they need for modern day life — whether in further education, their future careers, or beyond.
Celebrating Success: Maala’s Story
One example of the impact of our initiative is having comes from Maala Padda, the five-year-old daughter of one of our employees.
Over the past six months, thanks to Kumon tuition, Maala’s development has been remarkable. She is now working a full year ahead of her age group in maths, demonstrating greater confidence, stronger problem-solving abilities, and a growing love for learning.
Maala is able to master key concepts at her own pace, building her academic skills as well as her self-esteem and resilience. She is a fantastic example of how we can improve our community when we show dedication & loyalty to our team and invest in their future.
We are incredibly proud to celebrate Maala’s educational success, and we look forward to sharing more inspiring stories from other MWW staff members and their families with you in the future.
Why The Kumon Scholarship Program Matters
The programme shows how small, thoughtful investments can lead to huge life-changing outcomes. By focusing on the wellbeing and personal development of our staff and their family, we are supporting not just today’s workforce, but tomorrow’s too.
The Kumon Scholarship Programme is open to all MWW and affiliate company colleagues. Whether you’re deciding to apply for yourself, your child, or your grandchild, the programme is designed to support lifelong learning and help families thrive through access to flexible, structured tuition in maths and English.
Here at MWW, investing in people isn’t just a phrase, it’s a promise we keep to all our employees, growers and their communities both here in the UK and around the world. Together, we’re building brighter futures across the business one step at a time.
